Celebrating Women in Construction 2026
As we celebrate Women in Construction Week, we honor some remarkable women making a lasting impact at Park Square Homes and across the construction and homebuilding industry. This week provides a special opportunity to recognize the diverse contributions of women in every corner of the field—from architecture and project management to construction and beyond. Their hard work, expertise, and dedication to our homeowners not only shape the future of construction but also inspires the next generation of women to pursue careers in homebuilding.

Sue Dingle - Customer Care Technician
Sue
began her construction career in the early 1990s as a receptionist for a home
builder, quickly advancing to Warranty Service Office Manager. She was later
recruited by the company’s former president to launch the warranty department
at Park Square Homes and help design a streamlined service program.
Throughout
her career, Sue held customer service leadership roles with several builders,
including seven years as Production Manager for a well-known Winter Park custom
builder. She always hoped for the opportunity to return to Park Square — and 12
years ago, after a chance lunch meeting, she did just that.
Recruited
by upper management, Sue returned to help develop a quality control inspection
process and new home presentation program. The initiative was a tremendous
success with homeowners and investors and has since expanded into the customer
service department, where Sue now trains new team members on inspections and
presentations.
Her
long-time dream has been to educate homeowners before closing on how to
properly care for their homes. She believes the presentation fosters stronger
relationships, sets clear expectations, and enhances the overall warranty
experience.
Sue’s
advice to women entering construction: Don’t be afraid of the unknown.
Stay positive — you can do it.
Her
favorite quote says it best: “Strong women build strong foundations, not just
in construction but in every aspect of life.”

Perla
Diaz - Permitting Manager
Perla
brings over 20 years of experience in permitting and project management,
building a career defined by strategy, leadership, and results. She began her
professional journey in New York, where she eventually founded and
operated her own permitting company—an experience that sharpened her
entrepreneurial mindset and deepened her industry expertise.
Her
path later led her to Central Florida, where she spent several years in the
hospitality sector working with a nonprofit resort organization. While the
experience broadened her perspective and strengthened her operational skills,
her passion for permitting ultimately drew her back when the right opportunity
arose.
Perla
thrives on the strategic complexities of permitting and project
management—navigating regulations, solving problems, and moving projects
forward with precision. However, what truly drives her is leadership. With more
than a decade of experience leading teams, she is deeply committed to
motivating and inspiring others to reach their full potential. She believes in
leading by example and intentionally cultivates environments where growth,
creativity, and curiosity are encouraged.
For Perla, “Success is not just about delivering projects—it’s about empowering people along the way.”
Monica
Werling - Lead Architectural Coordinator
Monica
began in construction by working as a field project manager after graduating
from University of Santa Catarina with a bachelor’s degree in architecture and
urban development. Because she was the only woman in the field, she was
referred to as an "assistant" despite being a project manager, but
years of dedication and consistent learning has propelled Monica into her
current position. Over her ten years with Park Square Homes, Monica has
contributed to a wide range of distinctive projects and esteemed community
developments, including iconic locations like Bay Hill and Dellagio, both of
which she continues to take great pride in.
Monica
believes that "There is no perfect construction, and
obstacles may arise along the way but with good communication and teamwork,
there is always a solution."

Cindy
McMullan - Director of Purchasing
With
more than 30 years of experience in the construction industry, Cindy McMullan
has built a career rooted in discipline, relationships, and leadership. After
serving as a Supply Clerk in the United States Marine Corps and earning her
degree in Mathematics Education, Cindy found her path in homebuilding — where
she has spent 25 years specializing in Purchasing.
Cindy’s
journey with Park Square Homes spans two chapters of her career. She first
joined the company in 2004 as a Purchasing Associate and worked her way up to
Purchasing Manager. After gaining additional leadership experience in the
industry, she returned to Park Square Homes in 2022 and was promoted to
Director of Purchasing in January 2025. Today, she leads a team across multiple
divisions supporting new community releases throughout Central Florida.
Throughout
her career, Cindy has developed long-standing partnerships with trade partners
across the region and plays a key role in establishing dependable subcontractor
relationships and accurate budgets that support Park Square Homes’ commitment
to quality and value.
As
a leader, Cindy believes in mentoring and empowering her team. She encourages
them to think critically, ask questions, and build the confidence to make
informed decisions.
Cindy
shares this advice for women considering a career in construction:
"Stay curious. Don’t accept the first answer you’re given — ask
questions, dig deeper, and truly understand the ‘why’ behind the process.
Growth in this industry comes from learning continuously and challenging
yourself to think beyond the surface."
Sugandha
Sharma - Land Acquisition and Entitlement Manager
With
over 17 years of experience in real estate, a bachelor’s degree in
architecture, and a master's degree in town planning, Sugandha brings a wealth
of knowledge and expertise to Park Square Homes. Sugandha started her career
working in international master planning and infrastructure development in the
Middle East and Africa, where she covered a diverse range of land
infrastructure projects. One of her most ambitious projects was a 1,100-hectare
special economic zone in Gabon, Africa, where she gained invaluable experience
and exposure to the land and construction industry.
During
her master’s degree pursuit, she was also juggling being a dedicated mother.
Though it seemed daunting, but Sugandha was determined to make it happen.
Balancing early mornings, late nights, and the constant demands of both
academia and motherhood was no easy feat but she refused to let obstacles stand
in her way. She learned to prioritize, stay disciplined, and push forward, even
when the road felt tough. Crediting her family as her greatest pillar of
strength, she fondly recalls them providing unwavering support and
encouragement to give her the motivation to keep going.
"This
experience taught me that when you have a strong support system and unshakable
determination, you can achieve what once seemed impossible."
In
2017, Sugandha relocated to Florida where she pursued a master’s degree in real
estate finance and worked with a multi-family developer before joining Park
Square Homes' Land Acquisition team in 2021. Sugandha has played a crucial role
in the acquisition and approval process for various residential projects,
ensuring each investment opportunity is thoroughly evaluated and strategically
executed. Sugandha plays an integral role in transforming strategic visions
into tangible and profitable developments through regulatory compliance and due
diligence.
"There
is no limit to what we, as women, can accomplish." – Michelle Obama.
Sugandha believes that this quote reminds every woman that they can break
barriers and achieve greatness in any field they choose.

Tracy Simpson - Customer Care Coordinator
Tracy
began her career as an executive assistant at the University of Oklahoma before
working at Science Applications International Corp., where she coordinated
field work and environmental testing for homeowners with legal claims. Tracy
then moved on to Park Square Homes as the front desk administrator. Over eight
years, she was promoted and contributed to many different departments including
her current role in helping to lead warranty and customer care. She continues
to wear many hats and helps coordinate quality assurance, new home
presentations, warranty invoicing, and new homeowner closings for all Park
Square Homes’ divisions. When asked to share a quote to inspire women
interested in pursuing a career in construction and homebuilding, Tracy recalled
her father frequently saying, "First you dream, then you do," which
stuck with her and served as a source of inspiration throughout her career.
